The Wi-Fi network owned by Porto Digital, Porto. Free Wi-Fi, has registered more than 2.5 million connected devices since 2018, and the optical fiber network exceeds 4,000 kilometers, being the only case in the country.
With almost 200 Access Points’s distributed throughout the city of Porto and with the aim in 2020 to expand the network, a state-of-the-art captive portal was recently launched, allowing better usability.
The recent results of a study of satisfaction and improvement of the public Wi-Fi network, in which about 83 thousand users participated, showed the importance of the service provided. It is present in various parts of the city, including parks, gardens and beaches, and still available through the Eduroam network, the largest worldwide used in academia.
